Send a Parcel Delivery to Canada
Canada is the second largest country in the world by land area, with the world’s longest coastline, and although they share a lot of things in common with their southern neighbours, including 4 time zones, Canada does things very much their own way.
Newfoundland for example has its very own time zone, and doesn’t observe daylight savings time. Newfoundland Standard Time is 3 hours and 30 minutes behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC-3:30). This means that Newfoundland is half an hour ahead of Atlantic Standard Time (AST), which is observed in the neighbouring province of Nova Scotia!

Canada's prohibited item list
You're probably wondering what's considered a prohibited item and why it's important to give it a good check before sending your parcel to Canada, eh? Let's break it down for you.
Prohibited Items
Prohibited items are goods that the couriers are either not allowed to or simply will not accept into their networks. Examples that won’t surprise you are: drugs, weapons, explosives etc. What you may not know however is that in most circumstances, they also won’t take perishable food, batteries, and liquids of any kind. If they do take any of these things they are heavily regulated and are not able to be sent on normal shipping accounts.
Each carrier has their own specific list that can be found by clicking on the button below.
Items protected for loss only
As well as strictly prohibited items, there is a list of items that can be shipped through the courier network, but the carrier won't provide protection against damages. Even if you opt for enhanced cover during booking, the carrier will only offer compensation in the event that the parcel goes missing. Some examples of these items include antiques, fishing rods, and surfboards. To see the complete list, click the button labeled "Prohibited Items List" below.
No Protection items
For some items, the couriers will allow you to ship them at your own risk, but will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to them at all. Examples include: Precious metals and stones, watches, ceramics, and artwork, amongst others.
Better to be safe than sorry! It’s best to check before you send your parcel to Canada

Transit Times to Canada?
When sending a parcel to Canada, the main international couriers all outperform postal services when it comes to transit times by a long margin However, if you are closer to a collection depot, the chances of your parcel being collected same day increase dramatically, meaning your parcel will get to your receiver a day quicker!
Couriers start as far away as their geographical collection area goes and work their way back to the collection depot, collecting parcels along the way. If you are further out, you may not get your parcel collected before the driver has gone past your area.
When this is the case and the parcel just absolutely needs to be collected today, timed services are available, which often have a later cut-off for same day collection and are treated as priorities for collection and delivery by the couriers.
The Ordersort system will show you at a glance which courier has the bet transit times for the destination you are sending to and what the cut-off times are for same day collection, meaning you won’t be caught out and left holding your parcel.
